“Choosing the best end-of-life strategy for ageing wind turbines is a challenging task more and more stakeholders in the German market are concerned with. Our analyses of the entire German wind fleet with REGIS and IRIS show that it impossible to apply a uniform strategy to all ageing turbines. The optimal strategy design rather depends on various spatial planning restrictions, turbine-specific aspects, such as in-situ wind resources and the turbine type, as well as external effects, such as the development of spot market prices and future auction results.” Jan-Hendrik, in his speech at Brechen & Sieben conference of Fachagentur Windenergie an Land and EnergieAgentur.NRW in Bremen. Around 70 representatives from science and administration, the energy industry and various associations and state ministries visited the conference to discuss the topics of deconstruction and recycling of wind turbines.
