Energie & Management publishes study by Jan-Hendrik and Martin on the dismantling potential of the ageing German wind fleet: Around 5,200 turbines will simultaneously reach the end of the feed-in-tariff funding period of the Renewable Energy Sources Act for the first time at the end of 2020. Around 8,000 wind turbines will follow by the end of 2025. Analyses of the entire German wind fleet with REGIS and IRIS show that despite the increasing attractiveness of lifetime extensions, a large number of wind turbines will be decommissioned in the next few years.
